What Makes Carrington Different?
Events
We encourage a sense of community by hosting events for all ages throughout the year. Beginning in the spring, we hold our annual Carrington Easter Egg Hunt where youngsters can hunt eggs, enjoy games and eat sno-cones. There is typically a 4th of July parade, and a kayaking event in the late summer. Halloween is celebrated in Carrington with special attention given to controlling traffic flow so trick or treaters can safely move through the neighborhood. And finally, Santa pays a visit in December! |
Rain Gardens
Carrington sits at the top of the Little River Watershed so water from the neighborhood ends up in Lake Thunderbird as part of our drinking water. We believe it is in everyone's best interest to eliminate as many toxins from our water as possible so we use rain gardens instead of concrete pipes. Sand and special clays form the basis of the rain garden. Plants and trees are specifically chosen for their ability to live in these conditions. As water drains through the special clay mix, pollutants get filtered out by the plants, leaving a better quality of water. |
Landscaping for Wildlife Habitat
Part of the charm of exploring in Carrington is finding the wildlife that share our community. From great white herons to red-eared sliders, we actively provide habitat that maintains this ecosystem. Trees and landscape plants are chosen for their ability to survive in our soil conditions. Lake edges are groomed in such as way as to allow native animals the habitat they need. Signs throughout the community highlight the diversity of our wildlife. |
Carrington Homeowners Association
Carrington does have a Homeowners Association managed by Aria Real Estate Group. The HOA is under the control of the Developer with direction and input given by the Carrington Advisory Board. The HOA assesses annual dues, payable in January of each year. Dues are under $600 and cover the management of all common areas. Common areas include approximately 14 acres of commonly maintained space in the form of walking trails, seven lakes, two pools, a clubhouse, three playgrounds, a 200 meter track, 2 dog parks, a soccer field and basketball court. The HOA maintains contracts for landscape maintenance, mowing, fertilization and pool and general maintenance. |
Quick Facts
Carrington Communities are located in Northwest Norman with access off Franklin Road and 36th Avenue NW. We are approximately 20 minutes from downtown Oklahoma City with access to I-35 from either Tecumseh Road or Indian Hills Road. We are located within the Norman Public School boundaries. Roosevelt Elementary School, Whittier Middle School and Norman North High School are the designated schools for our neighborhood. The Developer plants approximately 100 trees per year throughout the neighborhood. Popular species are the lace bark elm, cottonless cottonwoods (these produce none of the stuff that makes you sneeze), sycamores, and redbuds. There are fruit trees scattered throughout the community as well. |
